I casually mentioned to my Mother that I was considering going a shade or two lighter with my hair. Her response? “Oh Kimmie no, not with that bone structure. If it aint broke don’t fix it.” That statement is offensive on so many levels; I do not know where to begin. First of all, I’m more than happy with my bones! In fact I’ve received more than my share of compliments directed at those babies. Secondly when I went as Marilyn Monroe for Halloween everyone said I should go platinum….well everyone who was married to me. My point is I’m a busy working Mom and sometimes a little thing like changing my hair color goes a long way in the self esteem department. I don’t know why I’m surprised by my Mother’s reaction. I know she loves me, but she also tried to talk me out of my Dorothy Hamil because she thought people would think I was Michael J. Fox.
