My mom pick some flowers out of our yard, put them in a pretty vase and brought them up to my apartment for me. Wasn't that sweet?

Cathy, your right. I have a friend like that. We go rummaging, the flee market, shopping and our gardens together. We love it and our kids enjoy the time they get to spend together too. I would take 1 or 2 really great friends over a lot of not so good friends any day.

You all are so funny. But I think it shows us that, although flowers are nice......there are other things that are wonderful too. Having a friend do something nice and unexpected is a treasure. Flowers fade too quickly but the memories of a friend's loving gift never fades in my mind. I have a friend who does, what she calls 'little things'.....like sharing the harvest of her garden with me and others, taking me on treasure journeys to local thrift shops.....stuff like that.

I would much rather have her as a friend than 3 florist shops!

I have one. When my son moved away, he arranged for a friend of his to take over doing things like moving furniture, installing air conditioners, etc. What was funny was when I moved upstairs and mom moved up, I came up to organize everything and realized the first thing this young man had done was hook up all the electronics : TV, surround sound, and computer. I didn't know how to do some of since they were presents from my kids and they had done it! LOL The bed wasn't together but by golly I was online and ready to watch TV! LOL

I'm all for rent-a-hubby. We could call them up and have them over to do all the little household chores that need doing: moving furniture, putting things back together....you know, that sort of thing. DJnTYsmom, maybe we could pool our funds and rent one. NO OVERNIGHT visits at my house though.....this would be a strictly dayjob.

fourwithtwins, I use to give my husband back rubs all the time till he got cheap on mine LOL. Well as you see I have 5 kids 2 was his from his first marriage and now we have 3 together. ( I was told that I would never be able to have children (medical reasons) sense I was 16. Look at me now. Love It. I work from home, I also do daycare (on a much smaller scale these day's), trying to finish college and take care of 3 dogs, a cat and fish. I usual have plenty of neighbor kids around too. School activities, sports, and last but not least the husband. You are SO right appreciation goes a LONG way with me. That would be much better than flowers.

I'm right with you, momEof5+! Only it's my husband who wants those back rubs more than I do. At least he is great at cleaning the kitchen AND expresses APPRECIATION for what I do too-(sometimes better than flowers!)

Earlier this month I reflected:

It makes me very happy to see that you all do not celebrate Valentine's Day one day a year. Who said it had to be February 14th? Keep on sharing your little kindnesses.....I don't know about anyone else, but they sure motivate me to reach out to someone, just because. Thanks for all the stories.
